This role is open to a European based software engineer who has strong experience in the particulars of Rust. We require someone who specialises in low-level optimisation, error handling, and can aide and advise the team and dealing with the subtlties and nuances of the language. Experience in a similar C based programming language, such as C++, or any strictly typed language is also a plus. Apparently, we are one of the few companies in Europe who have built the entire backend in Rust from day one, so that’s neat. We have multiple possible roles within our backend engineering team, all rust-based. Your skills will be put towards these main areas: The Chainflip Engine: this sidecar binary works in tandem with the State Chain to power our decentralised threshold signature protocol, and to witness events happening in the outside world. An in-depth knowledge of the challenges of distributed systems, networking protocols, cryptography, and Rust’s async features (specifically the tokio stack) would be great to have. The State Chain: we are developing our own standalone blockchain using the substrate blockchain development framework. Previous experience of working with complex type systems would be beneficial here, as would some knowledge of how blockchains work internally, but not necessary.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining cloud infrastructure to run reliable, secure, and scalable Ockam's managed cloud services. Ockam provides a collection of cloud services that enable end-to-end application layer trust in data. Senior Software Engineer - Java, Product & Features (Open remote across ANZ)

Software engineering is the core of who we are at Canva. The Canva code base was built to scale from day one. This has allowed for a unique environment where engineers spend most of their time optimizing performance and releasing new features rather than fixing legacy code. With adherence to fundamentals and first principles, the team strives to use the most appropriate tools for the tasks at hand, aiming to strike that carefully measured balance between getting things done and the long-term maintainability of the code base and supporting infrastructure. We promote a warm and collaborative work environment where engineers set big goals and are given the tools and support to achieve them. We also invite our engineers to contribute to the direction their peers are taking with proactive pair-ups for peer-reviewing of code as well as regular engineering forums for opinions and ideas to be heard. These practices ensure that knowledge is shared and releases are quick and efficient. Finally - you're probably curious about our technology stack. At a high level, Canva's backend is powered by a set of services (some micro, some not-so-micro) built primarily in Java, hosted on Linux, sitting on AWS. We also sprinkle in some powerful open-source libraries and tools (have a look at finagle ), as well as bespoke components to power some of the magic. Role Responsibilities Your day to day activities will consist of solution design and hands-on software development – working closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and functionality to our customers all over the worldOnce you’ve settled in and have a comfortable grasp of the product, environment, and processes, you’ll be given more responsibility and start leveraging your previous experience — bringing new ideas to the table concerning everything from feature development, process improvement, and product suggestionsDeveloping and iterating on technical proposals – outlining how solutions will be structured and developedDeveloping solutions you’ve designed from the ground up through to deployment into productionIdentifying and addressing performance bottlenecks within the application and broader infrastructureParticipating in design meetings, hiring interviews, and code reviewsPerformance debugging, benchmarking and building awesome things in general

Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

So, you’re considering a job at Ragnarson? It's in our best interest to help you find out whether Ragnarson is the right place for you. Deciding how we will be spending 6 to 10 hours of our lives together, five times a week, is paramount. It shouldn't be down to a simple benefit versus requirements comparison. There is no point in running yet another software development company without a good reason. For us, it's how we treat others as we would like to be treated (read our manifesto). That's why at Ragnarson we have created an environment where people achieve their fullest potential and are able to express themselves through their work. If you don’t see yourself in our story, Ragnarson is probably not the place you are looking for. In order to foster this environment, the company has transparency at its core. All staff have access to our complete financial records, expenses, income, client/employees rates etc. All of the processes, decisions and documents around them are open too. As uncle Ben said, “With great power comes great responsibility.” So you will need all these details to make various decisions at the company - whether or not to recruit somebody, accept or reject a client's project, give feedback to others, allocate the profit or save it for the future. Making such calls will help you develop and broaden your perspective. Obviously, you will be working with our clients on their products too. But that’s definitely not all there is to working at Ragnarson. You won’t find empty phrases like “flexible time”, “interesting projects”, “international clients” or “work in a young and dynamic team” commonly used in most job offers. Those terms have become devalued in IT jobs and mean exactly nothing. At Ragnarson you will be able to choose and adjust your perks to boost your productivity. Given you're still reading this and you haven’t seen the salary yet (because there is none in this narrative), your motivations are not strictly financial. That's great because for us money is a commodity that frankly, is easy to acquire nowadays. It’s much harder for you to find a work environment that you believe in and for us to find an engaged teammate. Twice a year at Ragnarson you will set your salary to whatever you think is right, based on the company's budget, feedback from the people you have worked with and the market comparison. Nobody will have a right to interfere with that decision.
