Quindar
👉 Please reference you found the job on Remote Software Engineering Jobs, this helps us get more companies to post here, thanks!
The same resources that successfully helped engineers get offers from Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. With proven results and used by over a million people all around the world...
Have you seen Apollo 13, The Martian, or Armageddon and recall all of the NASA engineers in a room with a bunch of monitors? Quindar is digitizing that away. Satellites are flying computers and we are revolutionizing the future of spacecraft operations by becoming the IT for space.
Our team has worked at OneWeb, Lockheed Martin, Iridium, Boeing, Orbital Sciences, and RedHat. We've operated dozens of satellites, worked on broadband and earth observation constellations, and serviced commercial and government users. We are using lessons learned from our previous aerospace and startup experiences to revolutionize the space industry and enable access to space without being an expert.
What You’ll Be Doing
Breaking stuff. We need a software engineer to focus on building and automating tests. A top candidate will be able to fix bugs of currently deployed software. This role is a mix of software engineering, DevOps, and testing. The unique part of this role does not lie within writing unit or integration tests but rather mirroring customer use cases – such as testing our satellite tracking, antenna reservation, or satellite command and control services.
Your mission will be to simulate dozens of satellites running operations while also being chaos monkey so our system can remain resilient. Don’t worry, you do not have to be an aerospace expert – satellites are just flying computers that you see every 90 minutes. Additionally, you will oversee testing operational recovery procedures.
Day to day, you will be a part of the engineering team of frontend and backend engineers working in an Agile Scrum environment.

Background Qualifications
TL;DR
We have a [rare] team of six technical co-founders and you will be a part of the first wave of hires! You can expect the process to take 2-3 weeks and to hopefully be extended an offer within a month of screening. Along the way you will get to meet the entire team because it’s not only important what you build but who you build it with. The interviews will be a mix of technical and culture (behavioral) questions, small coding challenges, and we will ask to talk with two references that you have worked with in the last 5 years.
Screening Call (30m)
Focus: 50% technical, 50% cultural Interviewers: 1 (Nate)
Someone drew the short straw of screening all candidates and who better than the co-founder who qualifies sales leads – our CEO Nate! Expect him to sell you…on Quindar. Don’t let that fool you, he is technical. The format for this screening call will be based on your resume.
Second Round (45 min)
Focus: 75% technical, 25% cultural Interviewers: 2 (Sunny & Shai)
Expect to be interviewed on technical concepts and to write some pseudo-code. They are 100% software engineers so you will work with them every day. Get to know them. Sunny leads product and Shai knows the latest technology before it’s even released to the public.
Third Round (45 min)
Focus: 75% technical, 25% cultural Interviewers: 2 (Zach & Dave/Matt)
More technical questions and more pseudo-code. Zach is our engineering lead and in charge of code reviews and managing technical debt. Dave/Matt split their time between software architecture, business, and writing code.
Reference Check & Coding/Design Challenge (Offline)
Interviewers: 1 (Nate)
While Nate will ask for the contact information of two references you have worked within the last 5 years, you will work on a capped 1-hour coding/design challenge offline.
Final Boss (30m)
Focus: 100% cultural Interviewers: 2 (Nate & Dave/Matt)
So, you made it this far? Congrats! You will meet the last co-founder and we will ask any outstanding questions and so should you!
