The Position

We are looking for a seasoned SRE/Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) who will participate in the ownership and improvement of our cloud infrastructure, including topics like multi-region architecture, performance monitoring, alarms, profiling tools, deployment tools ("canary", A/B testing), and chaos engineering. If you are a hands-on engineer that also has a passion for people management, very solid technical knowledge, and an ability for communicating ideas to the rest of the Engineering team and conceptualizing problems correctly, this will be an opportunity for you.

Requirements

• A degree in computer science or comparable studies, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8 years of professional experience in software engineering at mid or senior level. Ideally, your background would be rooted in software development, and, fueled by passion, you would have transitioned into an SRE or DevOps role.
• Experience as a “systems programmer”: knowledge of Linux internals, networking and C programming language.
• Hands-on experience with cloud suppliers and declarative infrastructure (AWS and Terraform preferably)
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes preferably).
• Proficiency in programming with one or more of the following languages: Python, Go, Rust and Java.
• Demonstrate a strong grasp of security principles and best practices, enabling the development and deployment of robust, secure solutions throughout the infrastructure.
• A proven track record of delivering results.
• You are self-motivated and with a strong desire to solve problems, invent and simplify.
• Business acumen: while you are knowledgeable about many technologies, you apply them judiciously and opportunistically, always keeping in mind context and business value.

3. Assessment Task. The assessment task allows you to get a first impression of the role’s responsibilities, and also helps us to see if it meets the SimScale expectations.
