The Position

The Team

Engineering at Pex is made up of fully distributed, cross-functional, and autonomous teams with engineers from various backgrounds and skill levels. As a people-focused Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a team of 4 engineers (2 Frontend and 2 Backend) who are building the products our rightsholder partners and clients use to engage with our algorithms and data.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you exemplify our values and empower teams to take initiative, experiment, learn from mistakes, and share opinions freely. Here’s how we expect you’ll make an impact and lead:

  • Support your team’s work with timely feedback and coaching
  • Actively participate in each individual team member’s growth
  • Understand the big picture while coaching and enabling the team’s Tech Lead to communicate effectively with the team
  • Supervise engineering team deliverables
  • Work with the team’s Product Manager and Tech Lead to deliver the right product
  • Work with other managers to nurture a strong engineering culture

Our Stack

While Engineering Managers at Pex are not required to be hands-on and are supported by a Tech Lead focused on technical leadership, it doesn’t hurt if you’re already familiar with any parts of our tech stack:

  • Go on the backend
  • Vue3 with composition API, TypeScript, Vite, Prettier, Jest + Testing Library, Cypress, Tailwind CSS, Storybook, Semantic UI, GitHub Actions, Netlify on the frontend
  • PostgreSQL, FoundationDB, ElasticSearch, Snowflake, dbt
  • CI/CD pipeline backed by Jenkins
  • Docker and Kubernetes to support our expansive development, QA, and production environments

Our Hiring Process

  1. Our recruiters will reach out to you and set up a 30-minute get-to-know-you call.
  2. Next, you'll speak with the hiring manager to get more granular about your skills and accomplishments.
  3. We'll send you a take-home challenge designed to help us understand how you approach and solve problems. Once complete, we do our best to get back to you within 3 business days.
  4. The team you'd work closely with will review your challenge and if you proceed, you'll get a chance to meet with them individually.
  5. The whole process normally takes about 2 weeks, but we're generally flexible to move at your speed
  6. We'll let you know regardless of the outcome. We won't leave you hanging!


  • Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 USD/ year
